John McCarthy

Contributions to computer science: conceived and developed time-sharing, invented the first programming language for symbolic computation LISP, and coined the term "Artificial Intelligence".

Alan turing

lifespan: birth: June 23rd, 1912 to death: June 7th, 1954.

achievements: Awarded the Order of the British Empire in 1946. Considered the father of modern computer science.

Contributions: Alan Turing was famous for his work developing the first modern computers, decoding the encryption of German Enigma machines during the second world war, and detailing a procedure known as the Turing Test, forming the basis for artificial intelligence.

Achievements: Invented the first computer compiler. Involved in the creation of UNIVAC, the first all-electronic digital computer.
